r2p Acquires SafeinTrain

r2p, a leading provider of intelligent technology systems for the public transport sector, today announced that they are acquiring SafeinTrain GmbH, a German based company specialised in safety projects for the transportation industry. r2p GmbH becomes 100% owner of SafeinTrain GmbH and the deal is effective from today onwards, enhancing the r2p Group’s solutions in the safety sector.

Competitive Edge

Flemming Kær, CEO of the r2p Group commented “r2p’s acquisition of SafeinTrain provides a major opportunity for both businesses through an extended service offering for our clients. With the acquisition of SafeinTrain, r2p gains a competitive edge establishing a unique position in the market for public transportation.”

The r2p CEO expects a significant increase in market share with complementing the safety offering customers are demanding. “SafeinTrain adds competences to the r2p Group within safety systems with a SIL (Security Integration Level) of up to 4, that pushes us several years ahead of competitors”, says Flemming Kær. “It is a perfect match for our solution portfolio, complementing our strategy to become global supplier of an integrated ITS platform.”

Synergies and Shared Beliefs

Synergies between both parties and shared beliefs and values on the future of mobility and safety has been the driving force of r2p and SafeinTrain joining forces. Dr. Peter Biechele states: “As a new member of the r2p group we are able to provide our innovative lean safety solutions to an even wider range of customers in the growing transportation market. This will definitely help us to speed up the sustainable growth of our team.” The integration of both companies will take place over the next weeks, where Dr. Biechele will join r2p’s global management team.

SafeinTrain was founded in 2010 in Malterdingen, Germany by Dr. Peter Biechele, and currently has 7 employees. The company services include safety concepts, safety consulting, safety risk analysis, safe design of embedded systems, as well as safe software development. The company is qualified according to all the safety processes of the EN50128/EN50129/IEC61508 standards.

With the acquisition, r2p and SafeinTrain will share group functions such as Human Resources, IT, Marketing and sales activities, that will be managed out of r2p in Flensburg. SafeinTrain will remain active in the market on their own, as well as supporting projects for the r2p Group. SafeinTrain will continue to operate under that name in the same location in Malterdingen with Dr. Biechele as the Managing Director.
