Senior Laravel Software Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Laravel Developer with good framework and AI development knowledge to work with our team of UK developers remotely, as part of a small Malaysian-based software development team, managed by the UK Software Development Manager. This fully remote position is based in Malaysia with flexible working hours to accommodate UK timezone collaboration requirements.

• Core Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Laravel framework with knowledge of versions 9-12 and Vue 2+
  • Build and optimize RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services
  • Troubleshoot issues in implementation and debug builds
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following best practices
  • Implement and maintain database schemas with performance optimization
• AI & Automation
  • Help improve agentic prompting in our development process
  • Build autonomous systems capable of multi-step task execution
  • Create AI-powered features leveraging LLMs and modern AI frameworks
• Infrastructure & DevOps
  • Improve and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
• Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work closely with the UK team on project planning and execution
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
  • Share knowledge within the team

What you Bring to the Table

• A minimum of 5+ years Laravel software development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency with modern Laravel versions (9+) and demonstrable portfolio of Laravel projects.
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
• Demonstrable experience of AI development and agentic prompting.
• Strong frontend development skills with Vue.js framework.
• Advanced MySQL database design and optimization.
• Deep understanding of PHP 8+ and object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Further desired skills:
  • MongoDB: Experience with NoSQL database
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): BigQuery, Dataflow, Looker experience
  • Debian/Linux: Server administration and system configuration
  • GitLab CI/CD: Pipeline development, automation, and deployment strategies
